Hi
I enjoy your site and your insight into your topics. This is my first visit and wanted to turn you on to my project.
I have a project that is starting to form up and I am looking for input from people who enjoy thinking about new mediums creative ideas and bad ideas alike.
Basically I am building this enormous structure (6 stories tall) that will display art work from the pool of artists. It will be erected in a major urban city center (San Francisco), where it will gain the attention of 10,000 passer byes per day.
The structure / machine is not only huge ,but also moves. If you take a look at the website it will help you get a fuzzy picture. The project will lease out spaces on “the wall” to artists for a price. The works will be displayed for 14 days rotating through the 7 positions on the front then coming back down the back side in a conveyor like fashion.
On the website (still in rough draft form), the works will be published for one year where viewers have a chance to purchase either the original works or prints. A healthy percentage of these profits will be shared with the artists alowing them to recoup their investment and make a profit.
So I am at this point looking for feedback and connections to sources of information to work with. I came across your website and was interested in your discussion topics and in an effort to expand my network I filled out this little form that I am almost done with. If you are interested in starting a duscussion I would appreciate it and value your feedback.
Was searching more speicifically for things supposedly and dubiously postmodern and came across your Derrida piece. Fantastic. Not that I warm much to Derrida but great to see something weighty in amongst all those blogs turning the dross of alienation into HTML and thereby annihilating the distance that there might have been between themselves and the modern (still modern, unfortunately) Leviathan.
And Dasein! Again, don’t really warm to Heidegger – too much incantation of Being. Using the term in the title, though, is cute.
But you guys seem to have moved on. No posts for 18months or more.
